LALO’S JOURNEY INTO TATTOOING

Lalo’s path to tattooing started in the early 2000s, inspired by watching his uncle Oscar tattoo friends at home with nothing more than a sharpie, Pelikan ink, and a homemade machine. While other kids spent their time playing sports, Lalo was sketching for hours, pouring his energy into art. Growing up in New Jersey, he discovered graffiti at just 8 years old, which gave him a way to express himself and shaped the foundation of his artistic voice.

As a teenager, Lalo apprenticed at Flash Tattoo under an artist known as Stomper, working the front desk, cleaning, and learning the discipline required to earn a spot as a tattooer. Later, at Aztec Ink, he dedicated years to proving himself—enduring long nights, early mornings, and plenty of challenges before finally earning his chair. Through determination, he transformed his love of art into a career.

WHY TATTOOING MATTERS TO LALO

For Lalo, tattooing isn’t just a job—it saved his life. Graffiti once got him into trouble and even juvenile detention, but tattooing gave him a positive outlet for his creativity and a way to connect deeply with others. He says:

“I love that I can still express myself and my thoughts through tattoos, leaving a personal mark on each person I tattoo. Bringing their tattoo ideas to life and sharing stories with them fills my heart.”

This connection is what drives him every day: creating tattoos that carry meaning, honor his clients’ stories, and leave behind art that lasts a lifetime.

LIFE OUTSIDE THE SHOP

When he’s not tattooing, Lalo is a proud father of four. Sundays are reserved for “Sunday Funday” with his kids, where family time and fun come first. He’s also a big fan of Halloween, a holiday his family loves to celebrate together. And if you ask him about food? He’ll tell you his favorite meal is steak—medium well, of course!

LALO EXCELS IN THESE STYLES, WHILE CONTINUING TO EXPLORE AND MASTER A WIDE RANGE OF TATTOO ART.
