Every tattoo begins with a story, your story, and ends in a piece of art that carries lasting meaning. We believe in honoring tradition, embracing innovation, and giving every client an unforgettable experience to the best of our ability. WHAT ALOHA MEANS Aloha means we truly care about YOU, your health, your safety, and your aloha while you are with us. Jon Poulson founded Aloha Tattoos wanting a clean, professional, budget-conscious shop without the negative attitude the industry was known for, and opened as a licensed, insured and certified studio in 2012. Since then our artists have completed tens of thousands of tattoos, from fine-line work to large-scale pieces. CLEAN We use 100% single-use, disposable equipment, a standard that exceeds traditional autoclave methods, alongside eco-friendly supplies. Every item is destroyed after a single use in bio-hazard containers. PROFESSIONAL Our artists are formally trained and work to a strict code of conduct. Consultations are informative and cover placement concerns and any issues worth raising before we start, and privacy options are available on request. FRIENDLY A relaxed atmosphere where you pick the music or the entertainment, never loud or uncomfortable. Walk-ins are welcome daily on a first-come, first-served basis, same-day appointments are often available, and payment plans are available for larger pieces. ## Artists - [Lalo Ramirez](https://aloha-tattoos.tattoonow.com/tattoo-artists/lalo-ramirez~0145c601-8e24-4e12-988b-828e20fca495) — Black & Grey Portraits Animals Graffiti Lettering and Script Calligraphy Chicano Style Illustrative Traditional — @DEADSOUL.INK Lead artist - black and grey realism, portraits, lettering, florals, and cover-ups. - [Paul Samaniego](https://aloha-tattoos.tattoonow.com/tattoo-artists/paul-samaniego~3e92fb45-36cf-49a5-ac93-2687a789dcc7) — Black & Grey Realism – portraits, life-like detail, and dramatic shading. This is not negotiable, and the law..Per Utah State law, we have some additional requirements for persons under 18 years of age in the form of legal contracts and additional paperwork. ### How should I prepare for my appointment? That’s a great question. and you asking is the first step to making it a great experience.Click here to read Jon’s blog post.To sum it up, Make sure you come to your appointment well hydrated, and having eaten a full meal.Make sure you bring your government-issued ID (Required by law).Avoid drinking alcohol taking blood thinners and/or NSAIDS (asprin/ibuprofen/etc.) within 24 hours of your appointment. If you’re concerned about the pain, speak to your artist about your options as far as numbing cream/lidocaine sprays. We also recommend coming to your appointment in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, or clothing that will accommodate the artist during the tattoo (i.e. wear shorts for a thigh tattoo, a tanktop for a shoulder tattoo, etc.)Dress appropriately: Wear comfortable, loose, appropriate attire. Ensure the clothing allows easy access to the area being tattooed. Loose-fitting and breathable attire is often a good choice.Stay Hydrated: Start 3-4 days prior to the appointment. Continue to drink water on the day of the tattoo. Hydrated skin makes it easier for the artist to work, and you'll feel better during the process.Eat a Meal: Have a light and balanced meal before your appointment to keep your energy levels up. Avoid heavy, greasy, or spicy foods, as they can make you feel uncomfortable during the tattooing process.Bring Snacks; in addition to your meal, bring a few snacks. something to keep your blood sugar up, distract from the pain, and help keep you pushing through.Arrive on Time: Punctuality is crucial. Arrive at the studio on time, or even a little early, to complete any necessary paperwork and make yourself comfortable.Bring Distractions: Depending on the size and complexity of your tattoo, the process can take a while. Bring a book, music, or a friend to keep you entertained and relaxed during the session.Communicate with Your Artist: Throughout the process, communicate openly with your tattoo artist. If you need a break, have questions, or feel discomfort, don't hesitate to speak up. A good artist will prioritize your comfort and satisfaction.Listen carefully to Aftercare Instructions: Pay close attention to the aftercare instructions your artist provides. Proper aftercare is essential for healing and maintaining the quality of your tattoo.Plan for Healing Time: Understand that a new tattoo will need time to heal. Avoid swimming, direct sunlight, and tight clothing on the freshly inked area. Follow your artist's recommendations for aftercare to ensure a vibrant and long-lasting tattoo. ### What should I consider when getting my first tattoo? Do Your Research! We appreciate having a good idea of what you want, where you want it, and how big you want it. Other than that, the best way to start is to talk to an artist or do a consultation. Tattoos are permanent, but they are a great way to express yourself creatively, show others your style, pay homage, and so much more. There is no right or wrong reason to get a tattoo. We’re here to support you. we want you to make the right decision. ### Can you draw anything I want? While we have multiple very capable artists that could, in theory, draw anything you’d like, that’s not a guarantee that they can tattoo anything you’d like. Some artists are not comfortable doing high-visibility tattoos such as hands or faces unless they are certain that you will not face negative consequences for it. Additionally, the vast majority of artists will refuse to tattoo anything with racist or other highly problematic connections. ### Do you have flash? Yes! Our artists have pre-drawn designs, ready to tattoo. If you’d like to take a look, stop in to Aloha and ask about flash. Additionally, our artists do post their flash on their individual instagrams, which can be found by visiting the individual artists pages and following their Instagram Links below their names ### Do you have any artists that specialize in (a specific style)? All of our artists have their own favorite styles, and styles they would like to do.Our artists are considered experts in most modern tattoo styles. So, YES! we do.If you’d like to learn more, click through to the ARTISTS section and peek through each of our amazing artists portfolios. You can learn a bit more about each artist this way, and get an idea of their personalities by visiting their social media accounts. ### Do you do cover-ups? We do! If you’d like to discuss getting a cover-up done, please schedule a consultation with one of our artists to plan out the design and future appointments, or send us an inquiry form through our website, and we’ll be happy to help get you scheduled. ### Do you do piercings? currently don’t do piercings. We recommend a couple of piercing specialty shops that maintain the Aloha Quality.ENSO Piercing and Adornment in SLC, Utah You can look them up online. Tell them we sent you over, we’re friends with them and they treat our clients extra special. ### Are tattoos safe? Yes, Tattooing has been around for thousands of years. Like any procedure, as long as you are working with a professional, reputable shop and and artist that uses safe and sanitary practices in a Health Department approves Facility, with Proper Licensing, Insurance, and Safety Measures in place…You will be just fine. ### What if I have a medical condition? We recommend discussing the possibility of a tattoo and potential issues with your medical professional beforehand. If you have a medical condition that can cause fainting, dizziness, excessive bleeding, autoimmune disorders, heart problems, blood or blood flow disorders, Communicable diseases, etc. please talk to your artist prior to your appointment. We want to ensure that we can make any necessary accommodations. If you're unsure about getting a tattoo due to a medical condition, we recommend discussing the tattoo and potential issues with your medical professional beforehand.Chances are, we have tattooed someone just like you in the past. We know how to make dreams come true, even if it's a bit harder on your body right now.We got this together. ### Does it hurt? And can I use numbing cream? All tattoo will always hurt. regardless of what anyone says.It is a manageable pain, that is more of an annoyance once you get past the initial pain. and then towards the end, it gets painful again.Every person has a different pain tolerance for different areas of the body, and some people are able to handle the pain better than others. If you’re concerned about the pain, we recommend speaking to your specific artist about their comfort working with numbing cream. Some artists are comfortable with it, while others are not. Using numbing cream can affect the way the skin behaves during the tattoo, as well as the way the tattoo heals afterward. That being said…. You got this. it’s not as bad as your worried mind makes it out to be. We want you to be as comfortable as possible.Get a good nights rest, stay hydrated, eat a meal and bring your favorite snack, and you’ll be just fine. ### Which areas are the most painful to tattoo? Any area where the skin may be thinner can be more painful for some people, such as wrists and inner elbows. Additionally, areas where the bone is prominent such as fingers, collarbones, ribs, and ankles can be more painful. ### Can I get tattooed if I'm sick? If you’re sick, please reach out to us to reschedule right away.Getting tattooed while you’re sick can elongate the healing process of the tattoo, as well as cause you to remain sick for an extended time. Our artists must also value their own health, and reserve the right to cancel your appointment if you show up to get tattooed and are visibly sick. Your tattoo won’t heal well, and will need a touch-up if you get it while you’re sick. So skip the extra time, pain, and money and do the right thing… stay home in bed if you’re feeling ill. ### Can I get tattooed if I'm pregnant? To put it simply, no. Getting tattooed while pregnant can put both you and your fetus/new-baby at risk, not only for infection, but for other complications as well due to the pain and stress you’re putting on your body. Just wait! ### Are your inks vegan? Many modern tattoo pigments are vegan. Jon only uses Vegan products, including Vegan Inks for instance. He isn’t the only one that uses vegan pigments. He said “i’ve never seen a single non-vegan pigment in the shop”But to be fair, every artist has their own preferences for the inks they use. Not all tattoo pigments/inks are vegan. If you’re curious, please reach out to us and we can speak with your artist to let you know for sure. ### Does white ink really hurt as bad as people say? White ink itself feels no different than any other pigment we put into the skin. So… NO, white ink doesn’t hurt any worse. Some people tend to say it hurts worse because we tend to put highlights in at the very end, going over areas that were tattooed sometimes hours before. So going back over irritated skin to get the perfect highlight is painful. It makes your tattoo look amazing. and it’s all worth it once its healed. ### What if I'm allergic to adhesives, or I just don't want to use an adhesive bandage on my tattoo? There are alternatives to using adhesive bandages to accommodate the healing process. Visit the aftercare section of our website for more info visit our aftercare page. Scroll past the Sandierm section to the old school Suran Wrap method… it worked for generations, and will work for anyone that is dedicated to taking care of their tattoo as it’s healing.Aftercare InstructionsAs always, please follow any instructions provided by your artist. ### How long should I wait to swim? Wait until your tattoo is fully healed, no more flaking. Shiny skin is ok for swimming, but the Sun can still deteriorate the pigment until it is fully healed (1 month or so)Dirty water will cause an infection, which will pull the pigment out of your new tattoo, and often cause a scar that can not be fixed.Just wait until its fully healed. ### Can I Fake Tan/ Spray-on Tan? We recommend keeping your tattoo out of direct sun for about a month. Use sun-Block after its done flaking/peeling if you must be in the sun with it.Avoid Fake Tan Spray until after the tattoo is fully healedFull healing takes about a month. but can take longer. Once the shininess goes away, you should be good. ### Do you do Tattoo Specials or Tattoo Deals?
